FA Trophy: Grimsby Town v Buxton match preview
BUXTON FC are preparing for one of their biggest fixtures in recent years when they take on Grimsby Town in one of the plum ties of the FA Carlsberg Trophy First Round Proper this afternoon.
Having already knocked out their own league leaders North Ferriby United earlier in the competition, the Bucks will be bidding to pull off a major giant-killing by claiming the scalp of Blue Square Bet Premier table-toppers Grimsby on their own turf.
If this afternoon’s match ends in a draw, a replay will take place at the Silverlands on Wednesday November 28 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Buxton FC
League: Evo-Stik League Premier Division (13th)

This will be Buxton’s first appearance in the First Round Proper since 1989, and their first-ever visit to Blundell Park. In reaching this stage of the competition, the Bucks have already seen off Evo-Stik Premier Division leaders North Ferriby and, more recently, Stamford AFC, who dumped FC United of Manchester out of the competition. In total, this will be Buxton’s ninth fixture in all FA competitions this season - seven of which have been away from home.
Buxton FC manager Martin McIntosh: “Against Grimsby we will have nothing to lose. We have got players in our camp that can cause them problems. But it will be tough against a team that really should be in the Football League.”

Chairman Tony Tomlinson: “We could hardly have been set a tougher task but that was the case at Fleetwood two years ago and their winner came only in the 95th minute.”
