FA Trophy: Buxton in the hat for second round draw

BUXTON FC will discover this lunchtime (Monday) who they could face in the Second Round Proper of the FA Carlsberg Trophy, should they overcome Grimsby Town in their midweek replay.

Martin McIntosh’s men pulled off a shock at Blundell Park on Saturday by holding Blue Square Bet Premier league leaders Grimsby to a 0-0 draw in their First Round Proper tie. A replay is scheduled at the Silverlands for Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

A total of 21 First Round ties were completed on Saturday, with five postponements and six requiring replays. This means the Bucks will be one of 43 teams in the hat for the last 32 draw, which unlike previous rounds will not be regionalised.

Matches in the Second Round Proper are scheduled to be played on Saturday December 15, with the winners each receiving £6,000 from the FA’s Prize Fund.
