Eastwood go nine points clear
TWO HOME wins and eight goals scored in the week not only maintained Eastwood Town's unbeaten home record but sent them nine points clear at the top as Nantwich Town were held to a draw by relegation threatened Matlock Town on Saturday.
Ilkeston Town keep pegging away and although they are 12 points adrift of the leaders after beating Buxton they do have three games in hand, while Hednesford Town stay fourth after ending a run of six games without a point by winning at Marine who had a dreadful week conceding seven goals without managing anything in reply.
With North Ferriby United losing at Witton Albion the last play-off spot is now held by Bradford Park Avenue who edged out next to bottom club Leigh Genesis 2-1.
Home wins on Saturday for Guiseley, FC United and Ashton United keeps those clubs interested in the play-offs, as are Kendal Town who although they lost at Guiseley on Saturday had beaten Leigh Genesis in midweek.
At the bottom things are looking dire for the bottom two Leigh Genesis and Prescot Cables, both of whom lost twice in the week and are now ten points adrift of safety.
It was a mixed week for the other two teams in the relegation spots with Noston United ending their goal drought with five against Prescot Cables in midweek before resuming normal service on Saturday at Ashton.
Matlock Town beat FC United on Sunday with a last gasp effort but lost at home to Buxton on Wednesday before surprising second place Nantwich Town on Saturday with a draw.
Witton Albion fans will be reaching for the vertigo tablets after two wins shot them up to the dizzy heights of 14th.
First Division North leaders Durham City lost at Radcliffe Borough on Monday and looked as if they could be held by bottom club Salford City, who had crashed 8-1 at Wakefield a day later, on Saturday before they managed a late winner.
FC Halifax Town lost second place when they went down at home to Woodley Sports with Colwyn Bay who are in fine fettle at the moment taking over after two more maximums.
After a loss of form Skelmersdale United have bounced back in style in the last three days scoring ten goals including six without reply at Clitheroe on Saturday and they climb a place to fourth with Newcastle Blue Star up to fifth after keeping their impressive away form going with another two wins.
The big losers were Bamber Bridge who drop five places after losing at home to Garforth Town.
First Division South leaders Retford United didn't concede in either of their two games but picked up only four points as they were held to a draw by Quorn and whilst they are ten points clear second place Stocksbridge PS have four games in hand.
Back in third are Belper Town who hit four without reply at Spalding United and two home wins sees Glapwell in fourth.
Stamford lost their unbeaten home record at the hands of Rushall Olympic and Lincoln United went down on their travels for the first time when beaten at Kidsgrove Athletic.
