Cup final next for the Bucks

BUXTON FC rounded off their league campaign at the weekend and can now look forward to the their first Derbyshire Senior Cup final for over 20 years.

The Bucks meet local rivals Matlock Town tomorrow (Tuesday) night at Derby County's Pride Park stadium in the club's first final for 23 years.

And manager John Reed is looking forward to finishing the season on a high by bringing the trophy back to the Silverlands.

"It is just a great end to the season for both clubs," he said. "We are going out there quite relaxed but everybody is saying lets go and finish the season in style and bring back some silverware.

"The game will be a tight game. They narrowly beat us in the league cup at home then we had a great win at theirs and then obviously there was that second league game when we won 4-1 when we had our shooting boots on. If Mark Reed and Gav Knight carry on as they have, for me, I have to say we have to lose it.

"In the last two games we have played against them (Matlock) we had that little bit more.

"But we will treat them with respect. Since we beat them they have beaten Hednesford, Ashton and Leigh. Mark (Atkins) has got them well organised and it will be a difficult game.

"But it will just put the icing on the cake for us if we win."
