Bucks looking for Trophy boost
BUXTON FC will be out for revenge in Saturday's FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie against Southern League side Stourbridge (kick-off 3pm).
The Glassboys knocked the Bucks out of the FA Cup last weekend, winning their Fourth Qualifying Round tie 4-0.
The tie attracted the biggest Silverlands attendance in the FA Cup - 793 - since the Radcliffe Borough cup match in October 2003, but also saw the club's heaviest home defeat in the competition since a 4-0 replay defeat by Runcorn in October 1978.
Following the defeat, Buxton chairman Tony Tomlinson said: "We appealed last week for maximum support for the FA Cup tie and the fans certainly did us proud, so I feel, as chairman, that I must apologise to our supporters for what was a bitterly disappointing day.
"Some of us have been waiting and hoping for nearly 50 years for another First Round appearance.
"We must now obviously concentrate on improving our league position and, if possible, reversing last Saturday's outcome to keep an interest in the trophy."
The cup exit means Buxton's scheduled UniBond league fixture away to FC United will now go ahead at Gigg Lane on Saturday November 7.
