All change in UniBond next season
KINGS Lynn, Durham City and Newcastle Blue Star look set to be among the teams playing alongside Buxton FC in next season's UniBond Premier Division.
The Football Association released on Friday its list of Step One to Step Four club allocations for the 2009/10 season.
But in a statement, the FA said: "There remain, however, a small number of issues that may result in further changes to the published list being applied.
"In confirming these allocations it was agreed that a complete review of the current league boundaries would take place during the course of next season."
The proposed club allocations for the UniBond Premier Division – which await ratification by the league's AGM later this month – see Durham City and Newcastle Blue Star promoted from Division One North, and Retford United and Stocksbridge PS from Division One South.
Dropping down from the Conference North are Burscough and Hucknall Town, as well as Kings Lynn, who were demoted under ground grading rules after losing an FA appeal last week.
It was a similar story for Cammell Laird, who were demoted by the FA from the Premier Division to Division One South, reprieving Whitby Town.
The only other change sees Hednesford Town move into the Southern League's Premier Division.
Commenting on the proposed league structure, Buxton manager John Reed said: "Kings Lynn is a big football club, Durham City is an excellent club, and so is Newcastle Blue Star, if they make it into the league.
"Then you have the likes of Retford; they have had a fantastic season and have got a good budget as well.
"It just shows that this is a terrific league which keeps getting stronger and stronger. It's going to be another exciting season."
Reed, meanwhile, has been in talks with a number of potential new signings.
Players who have been retained, or are already contracted for next season, include: Scott Hartley, Grant Black, Tommy Agus, Gregg Anderson, Scott Maxfield, Steve Ridley, Michael Towey, Gavin Knight and Mark Reed, while all the club's non-contract players have been invited to pre-season training, which begins on June 23.
Also invited are the club's three former contract players: Terry Bowker, Steve Brodie and James Turley.
