New-look Millers to begin pre-season

Have your say

Little over two months since their disappointing Evo-Stik Division One North play-off defeat against Trafford, New Mills AFC return to pre-season action on Saturday afternoon.

With Carlos Meakin leaving for pastures new, and players such as midfielder Nicky Platt, goalkeeper David Stevenson and striker Chris Luby reportedly signing elsewhere, it promises to be a much-changed first-team squad which will travel to Wright Robinson College in Gorton to face last season’s North West Counties Football League runners-up Maine Road (kick-off 2pm).

Looking to build on last season’s Derbyshire Cup success, Rick Adrio’s New Mills Reserves side will face Curzon Ashton’s second string on Saturday on the 3G pitch adjacent to The Tameside Stadium (kick-off 2pm).
