New Mills AFC must wait until after Saturday’s final round of fixtures to discover who they will meet in the Evo-Stik League First Division North’s end-of-season playoffs.
The Millers, who are bidding to join neighbours Buxton in the Premier Division next term, guaranteed their place in the league’s top-five with last week’s victory over Radcliffe Borough.
And victory over Curzon Ashton in this afternoon’s final game of the regular season will secure them the runner-up spot behind champions Skelmersdale United.
While their opponents in the play-off semi-finals are not yet clear, details of when the matches will take place have been confirmed. The semis will be played on Bank Holiday Monday May 6 (kick-off 3pm). The team finishing second will host the side finishing fifth, whilst third hosts fourth in the other game. The matches will be played to a conclusion.
The two winners will contest the final on Friday May 10 (kick-off 7.45pm), with the highest-placed finalist having home advantage. Again, extra-time and penalties could decide the outcome.
Millers supporters are advised that season tickets will not be valid at the turnstiles for playoff matches at Church Lane, which will be ‘all-pay’.
The match against Curzon Ashton will be played at Bower Fold, the home of Stalybridge Celtic (kick-off 3pm).
