A STUNNING strike by Rushall Olympic’s Chris Morris denied Buxton FC their first Evo-Stik Premier Division point of the season on Tuesday night.
Scott Maxfield’s right-footed pile-driver had given the Bucks the lead early in the second half, but Rushall hit back through Luke Edwards from the penalty spot, before claiming all three points through Morris deep into injury time.
High-flying New Mills AFC opened up a one-point lead at the top of the Evo-Stik First Division South after a midweek win at Rainworth Miners Welfare. A second-half brace by Carlos Meakin secured the points for the Millers.
Whaley Bridge maintained their 100 per cent record with a 2-1 win away at Poynton to top Division Two of the Cheshire Football League. Whaley’s goals came from Bill Sutton and Micky Ryan, with Duncan Warrender netting for the hosts.
