BOXING Day brought mixed results for the High Peak’s three non-league teams.
In front of a crowd of nearly 700 at Causeway Lane, struggling Buxton FC were held 1-1 by league rivals Matlock Town.
On-loan Bradley Barraclough put the Bucks ahead after three minutes, but the Gladiators hit back just shy of the hour mark through ex-Bucks striker Lee Morris.
Both sides finished with ten men following the second-half dismissals of Kieran Lugsden and Ben Hunter, while player-manager Scott Maxfield was also sent to the stands.
The result extends the Bucks’ unbeaten run to three games in all competitions, but sees them remain one point adrift in the Evo-Stik Premier Division relegation zone. Matlock, meantime, are left searching for their first win in eight league and cup matches.
At Church Lane, goals from Ben Nixon and Tim Grace saw Leek Town triumph 2-0 over mid-table Evo-Stik First Division South side New Mills AFC.
Also in action on Bank Holiday Monday was North West Counties League Premier Division title-chasers Glossop North End, who were denied a Boxing Day win over Maine Road by James Rothell’s 90th-minute equaliser, after Sam Hind had put the Hillmen 1-0 up with 12 minutes to play of the second half.
