Man Utd Reserves to play New Mills in pre-season friendly

NEWLY-CROWNED Barclays Premier League winners Manchester United are to send their second-string to face Vodkat Premier Division champions New Mills in a mouth-watering pre-season friendly.

In preparation for their debut season in the Evo-Stik League, the Millers - who this year celebrate their 125th anniversary - will host Manchester United Reserves at Church Lane on Sunday August 14.

United’s reserve side, which is led by Warren Joyce, plays in the Barclays Premier Reserve League and regularly features some of Old Trafford’s senior stars. Earlier this week, United’s reserves lifted the Manchester Senior Cup, following a 3-1 win over Bolton, with a team bolstered by the likes of Darren Fletcher and Rafel.

In other news, Stockport County, recently relegated from the Football League, have announced they will visit the Silverlands on Saturday July 23 (kick-off 3pm) to face Evo-Stik Premier Division side Buxton FC in a pre-season friendly.

Blue Square Bet North side Altrincham FC have also lined up a friendly fixture with the Bucks, believed to be scheduled for Tuesday July 19 at Buxton.
