THE WEATHER was the only winner in the Vodkat League Premier Division as Saturday’s entire programme was wiped out.
While the playing surface at Church Lane was in immaculate condition on Friday afternoon, heavy overnight downpours left it saturated, and the decision to postpone the Millers’ game against Stone Dominoes was a formality.
The club hopes to make inroads into its backlog of Premier Division fixtures this coming weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the Millers travel to lowly Ashton Athletic (kick-off 3pm), before starting a run of three consecutive home fixtures when they entertain Maine Road at Church Lane the following Monday evening, February 14 (kick-off 7.45pm).
New Mills Reserves, who were without a fixture last weekend, play host to Ashton Athletic on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Similarly to the first team, the club’s under-18s side look to make inroads into their fixtures as they have a rearranged home North West Youth Alliance Premier League fixture tonight (Thursday) against Nantwich Town (kick-off 7.45pm).
On Sunday, they are in action in the quarter-final of the Manchester FA Youth Cup, when the visitors to Church Lane will be North Trafford Athletic (kick-off 2pm).
* The postponed Vodkat League Challenge Cup Third Round tie at Ramsbottom United has been rescheduled for Tuesday February 22.
Should the game be postponed for a second time due to an unfit pitch, it will revert to New Mills as per league rules and will be played on Thursday February 24.
