Young Bucks put five past Carlton
Buxton U19s 5, Carlton Town Academy 2
BUXTON continued their unbeaten run as they hosted Carlton Town Academy on Tuesday night.
Jack Barton and Hopkins had early chances - the latter forcing an expert save from the goalkeeper - before Barton powered a header into the roof of the net from a Josh Hall corner to open the scoring.
The Young Bucks doubled their lead when a whipped cross from John Ballington was met by Alex Airey to smash home from close range.
Barton’s free-kick was saved, before the visitors pulled a goal back through winger Westby’s curling effort over the head of Stanway.
Buxton restored their two-goal lead when a third corner from Hall was once again met by Barton at the near post, but another curling effort, this time from Carlton striker Hopper, made it 3-2 at half-time.
Buxton’s continued dominance in the second half was shown by a succession of short corners which all nearly resulted in goals, the best of which produced a clever one-two between Barton and Hopkins. Hopkins’ cross was cleverly dummied by Paisley but cleared off the line by a defender.
Buxton made it 4-2 when another precision corner from Hall was headed home by Airey, and with 15 minutes remaining some neat footwork from Heywood saw him beat two defenders and calmly roll the ball under the onrushing keeper to kill-off the game. Another brilliant save denied Airey his hat-trick.
Buxton travel to face Dunkirk and Sandiacre Town next week, before returning to the Silverlands to entertain Matlock Town on Tuesday November 20.
