Buxton 2, FC Halifax Town 1

SUPER sub Sam Johnson bagged two goals on his debut as Buxton came from behind to stun league leaders FC Halifax Town on Saturday.

Local lad Johnson, who has received rave reviews playing for Hope Valley League side Harpur Hill FC and had been on the radar of FC United of Manchester, had been on the pitch less than five minutes when he headed a Grant Black cross into the net on 76 minutes.

The goal cancelled out Tom Baker’s 69th-minute penalty for the Shaymen, following a foul on Jamie Vardy by Gregg Anderson.

And five minutes after netting the equaliser, the 20-year-old striker fired home his second from inside the penalty area, following a long throw-in from the right.
