BUXTON Football Club has completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Steve Collis.
Collis, who was released by Macclesfield Town in the summer, put pen to paper last night (Tuesday) following a series of impressive performances for the Bucks in pre-season.
The 31-year-old’s former clubs include Yeovil, Southend and Crewe Alexandra, in addition to loan appearances for Aldershot Town, Torquay United and Northampton Town.
Collis is the latest of Buxton manager Martin McIntosh’s summer acquisitions, taking his squad number to 20 following the addition on Saturday of Jordan Thewlis and Kyle Nix, who both signed league forms.
Nineteen-year-old Thewlis has also performed well for the Bucks in pre-season matches, against Sheffield Wednesday and Stalybridge, after last season being a contract player with Gainsborough Trinity. He spent his earlier years with Scunthorpe United.
Returning to the Silverlands after more than five years away is 26-year-old midfielder Nix, who scored one goal in seven appearances during Buxton’s Division One championship-winning season.
He spent his formative years with Manchester United, Aston Villa and Sheffield United, and after leaving the Bucks had two seasons with Bradford City before more recently playing in the Blue Square National for Mansfield Town, Gateshead and Tamworth.
Buxton kick-off the new Evo-Stik League season away at North Ferriby United on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
