A FUNDRAISING event has been organised in memory of footballer Ben Obiora by one of his former clubs.
Ben, 16, collapsed and died while playing football for Dove Holes FC Reserves against Blazing Rag in the Hope Valley League on April 21.
Dove Holes FC is holding a memorial fund-raising event at its Hallsteads ground on Sunday July 29, starting at 2.30pm, featuring a round-robin football tournament involving Dove Holes Reserves, Blazing Rag FC and New Mills Youth FC.
A raffle will be running throughout the day and drawn at the Community Hall in the evening, where local band Dysfunctional will be playing. Refreshments will be served and the bar will be open.
Admission is free, with donations welcome. Money raised will go to Cardiac Risk in the Young and the British Heart Foundation.
