Four more sign on for Buxton FC

BUXTON Football Club boss Martin McIntosh has made two new additions to his squad, with just over a week to go until the start of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division season.

The Bucks, who get their domestic campaign underway on Saturday August 18 with the curtain-raiser at North Ferriby United, have signed six-foot-tall ex-Hallam defender Dwayne Wiley, 21, and former Derby County and Ireland youth international Kallum Keane.

Keane, 20, formerly of Alfreton and Belper, played for Hucknall Town and Eastwood Town last season. Either side of the 2011 close season, he was given his chance with the then League One club Exeter City.

The versatile 20-year-old, who has already been seen at right-back, centre-half and in midfield, is expected to immediately challenge for a regular first-team berth.

Also putting pen to paper for the Bucks is teenage goalkeeper Tom Turner, who has returned from his trial with Notts County, and under-19s left-back Charlie Johnson, who has performed well during several recent cameo appearances. The latest signings take the current squad number to 17.

Also on the goalkeeper front, McIntosh has identified several new targets currently on trial elsewhere, but with the prospect of recruiting one of them. He will also, in training, be running the rule over two new trialists who were brought in last week.

Elsewhere, former Buxton loanee James Baxendale has left home-town club Doncaster Rovers to sign a one-year contract with League One Walsall, while former Silverlands favourite Wesley Milnes has swapped West Yorkshire Division One (North) teams, leaving Farsley to join Ossett Town.

The same applies to ex-Silverlander Chris Walton, who has joined Farsley from Garforth Town.

Jan Budtz, the goalkeeper who signed for the Bucks some weeks ago and then promptly left, has now joined Blue Square North club Gainsborough Trinity.

l Buxton FC conclude their pre-season friendly programme on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) when they travel to face Blue Square North side Stalybridge Celtic.
