TWO MEMBERS of the Buxton FC supporters team - FC Buxton - had the honour of representing England in a home international against a team of Scotland fans.
Selected from over 500 players across the country, Will Drennan and Robbie Keane pulled on the Three Lions at Boddington Hall, Leeds, in the international, kicking-off the annual WorldNet tournament which sees supporters’ teams from across Europe come to compete
Both Drennan and Keane impressed for England, who were cruising in a 2-0 lead before the game was unfortunately cut short due to a serious leg break to Coventry midfielder Wilkinson.
England honours capped a great season for the FC Buxton duo, who between them won players’ player, forum player and manager’s player of the year awards for the 2010/11 season.
Outgoing FC Buxton manager Chris Hill said: “It was great to see two FC boys playing for England and representing our little town and club on the national stage.
“It is great reward for their seasons personally, but more so the superb team effort we put in last season to achieve a top-ten finish.”
