BUXTON FC continued their resurgence with a 2-1 victory over Matlock Town at the Silverlands on Bank Holiday Monday.
Mark Reed put the Bucks ahead on 41 minutes with a well-taken goal before Matlock levelled through Lewis McMahon on 68 minutes.
But Michael Towey netted the winner with 89 minutes on the clock to seal a vital three points in Buxton’s push up the Evo-Stik League Premier Division table.
New Mills AFC’s slim hopes of reaching the Evo-Stik Division One South were ended in cruel fashion at Leek Town.
The Millers crashed to a 4-0 defeat, as a result of goals from Tim Grice, Adam Roberts, Dan Cope and Oliver Edwards, in front of a crowd of 345 at Harrison Park.
Glossop North End slipped to another North West Counties League (NWCFL) Premier Division loss away at Maine Road, Rob Brocklehurst netting in the ninth minute for the hosts.
In the NWCFL Reserve Division, Glossop North End Reserves beat Nelson Reserves 10-1 at Surrey Street, while New Mills Reserves won 3-2 against Padiham Reserves at Church Lane.
