Peak Dale 3

Buxton Christians 1

Christians fell to a second successive league defeat away at Peak Dale.

After a bright start, Christians went behind after seven minutes to a powerful long shot, and five minutes later Peak Dale made it 2-0 when a clever pull-back was tucked away.

Peak Dale looked dangerous on the attack, but Christians pulled a goal back after half an hour when Heathcote’s miss-hit shot fell to Craig Owen, who struck a firm low shot of his own into the bottom corner of the Peak Dale net.

Christians tried to turn things around in the second half but they were second best all over the pitch, and it was no surprise when Peak Dale scored a third after a neat flick beat the central defenders and a cool finish got the better of Sadler in the Christians goal.

Sadler made several other good saves to earn the Christians’ man of the match award, but all of the real match winners were on the Peak Dale side.
