AFTER seven seasons, Hope Valley Football League A Division side Buxton Christians FC has folded.
In a letter to the Advertiser this week, Buxton Christians Manager Andy Tooze said: “I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make our time in the league such an enjoyable one. It has been our privilege to be involved with the local footballing community.
“Although Jesus Christ was the founder of the Christian church, he didn’t spend much time in buildings but preferred to go to places where people met and tried to show them something of the Kingdom of God. We have tried to run our football club following similar principles.”
Tooze also urged locals to support the town’s three remaining Hope Valley League teams - Buxton Town, Blazing Rag and Cote Heath.
“They are all great clubs run by good people,” he added. “They all need your support and encouragement to survive and thrive.”
