STRUGGLING Buxton FC suffered their 14th league defeat of the season on Saturday as they went down 3-1 against high-flying Chorley at a wind-swept Silverlands.
Bradley Barraclough’s fifth goal in successive appearances cancelled out Chris Denham’s deflected free-kick to see the sides level at half-time.
However, Adam Roscoe’s back-post header, and then a cheeky lob by Steve Foster into the top corner, saw the promotion-chasing visitors secure all three points.
Despite the 3-1 result, Buxton player-manager Scott Maxfield believed there were plenty of positives to take away from the performance.
“They (Chorley) are one of the top four or five teams in the league, and we more than matched them, although the result doesn’t say so,” Maxfield said.
“I thought we played some nice football on a sticky wicket, created chances, but we can’t legislate for individual errors which have cost us once again.”
