BUXTON FC have all but secured their Evo-Stik Premier Division survival after Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Stafford Rangers.
Goals from Kieran Lugsden and Mark Reed gave the Bucks the half-time lead in the re-arranged fixture at the Silverlands, after Sean Kinsella had opened the scoring for Stafford inside the first 20 minutes.
Reed then added his second goal 18 minutes before full-time to secure the victory, the club’s eighth league win out of 11 under the leadership of Martin McIntosh.
The result moves the Bucks up to 15th place in the table and needing just one point from their remaining three games - the next is the return fixture at Stafford on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) - to guarantee Premier Division survival, although this will be assured regardless should Frickley Athletic drop points away at Bradford Park Avenue this weekend.
