Buxton FC win big in relegation battle

BUXTON FC closed the gap between themselves and Evo-Stik Premier Division safety to just two points after thumping fellow strugglers Frickley Athletic 3-0 at the Silverlands on Saturday.

Two goals for Mark Reed and one for Bradley Barraclough helped make it three league wins out of four for Martin McIntosh’s rejuvenated side.

Wins also for Stocksbridge Park Steels, Whitby Town and Mickleover Sports mean there are now just three points separating six of the seven teams at the bottom of the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Buxton, who still have games in hand against the teams above them, face another relegation six-pointer at Chasetown next weekend (kick-off 3pm).
