Buxton have suffered a huge blow after influential defender Ash Palmer departed the club.

The centre-half has signed terms with National League North side North Ferriby United.

Palmer, 22, was arguably the Bucks’ most consistent player over the past two seasons operating at the heart of Martin McIntosh’s defence.

However, after Buxton failed to qualify for last season’s play-offs the defender has decided to try his luck a league up with last season’s FA Trophy winners.

Meanwhile, the Bucks have confirmed a batch of pre-season friendlies.

They will host Alfreton (July 3), Leek (Aug 1), a Sheffield United XI (Aug 5) and Glossop North End (Aug 8).

McIntosh will take his side to Worksop Parramore (July 21) and Armthorpe Welfare (July 25).

Sandwiched between those games is the Liverpool FC Legends clash at the Silverlands on Sunday, July 19.

More details continue to be released but the Anfield side will be bringing the likes of John Aldridge and Jan Molby to take on a Buxton Legends team.

As well as the football there will be entertainment for the whole family throughout the day, with gates opening at 2pm.

Tickets are priced £12.50.
