Leek Half Marathon was held recently, and Buxton AC was represented by a number of athletes.

The tough, hilly course has a fearsome reputation almost matching that of the Buxton half marathon.

In the middle of a brilliant season, Jason Bennett was seventh home overall, with an impressive time of 1 hour 24 minutes and 30 seconds.

Next home from the club was Steve Kenworthy in 1.50.35, then Ros Barratt in 1.52.04, Steve Radcliffe 1.53.21, Bev Golden 2.10.35 and Mark Babington 2.12.

Jason claimed another fine result at the Eccles Pike fell race, a hilly four-mile race, finishing in ninth place.

Other club runners at the race were: 20th Mark Pursell, 43rd Mark Halsey, 62nd Roland Meylan, 77th Richard Bouglas, 98th Dave Forshaw, 102nd Helen Brunt, 103rd Frank Golden, 111th Bev Golden.

Members of the junior section of the club also took part in the race with fine results: Elliot Meylan was 26th overall, close behind was Louis Forshaw-Perring 28th, while Joe Uprichard came home in 85th place.

The juniors also impressed at the Parwich Junior fell race recently, with Will Tighe taking a fine first place in the Under 12 category, Elliot Meylan closely following in second place.

Brother James Tighe was the winner of the Under 10s, while Max Graham was second Under 10. Jacob Buckley, meanwhile, has been selected to run for Derbyshire on September 14 in the 4 x 100 metre relays.

The recent Taddington Lanes 4.5 mile event was the venue for more great results from club members with Bennnett predictably coming home first.
