Buxton were knocked out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage after defeat to holders Ilkeston in extra time.
In treacherous conditions at the Silverlands, the visitors’ Laurie Wilson popped up with the winner after getting on the end of a free-kick to head beyond Andy Warrington.
The two sides had been unable to break the deadlock within 90 minutes in a game that went all the way, despite the heavy rain looking like it would force an abandonment.
Ross Etheridge in the Robins goal made a number of stops to deny the hosts in the first half, including a top save to keep out Mark Reed’s header.
The Bucks then found the net after the break but Jacob Hazel was adjudged offside.
With the clock ticking down Craig King unleashed an effort but saw his shot come back off a post.
With the hosts unable to open the scoring, Wilson punished Buxton just before the end of the first half to seal the win.
Bucks: Warrington, Stevens, Ryan, Palmer, Green, Istead (Samms), Niven, Thornhill, Reed, Hazel, King (Bradbury).
