Buxton boss Martin McIntosh has heaped praise on Neil Stevens after the midfielder worked his way back into the first-team fold.

Stevens, who has made over 200 appearances for the Bucks in three separate spells, has started the last five games.

He also scored his first goal of the campaign earlier this month in the 2-1 win over Blyth Spartans and his performances since earning back a starting place has led to McIntosh waxing lyrical about the 24-year-old’s attitude.

Ahead of today’s visit of Barwell, McIntosh said: “Neil was out of the picture for a while but he’s worked his way back into the team because of his work-rate.

“He’s a terrific player and he’s been a tremendous servant to this football club.

“He’s somebody you can rely on every week because he has that workrate and endeavour.

“He can also score goals from midfield, like he showed against Blyth the other week and long may that continue.”
