Buxton secured a point on their travels for the second time in five days, after Derek Niven’s late equaliser.

The Scot pounced in stoppage time from 12 yards out to seal an unlikely point for Martin McIntosh’s side.

For much of the match the Bucks had struggled to cope with Ashton’s attacking.

It wasn’t until the brink of half-time that United took the lead. James Gorton’s looping header catching out Aaron Jameson in the visiting goal.

After the interval Ashton went close to doubling their lead on three occasions.

Bennett’s header hit the bar, Neil Stevens was forced into a goal-line clearance and Pilkington flashed a shot across Jameson’s goal.

Those near-misses seemed to boost the Bucks though, and Shaun Tuton’s effort in stoppage time was turned behind for a corner.

From the resulting set-piece Ashton failed to clear, Niven gleefully netted.

Bucks: Jameson, Stevens, Palmer, Young, Green, Istead, Niven, Williams (Taylor 46), King, Reed, Hardy (Tuton 39).
