Disley 1st XI produced the result of the weekend in the Meller Braggins Cheshire Cricket League as they travelled to previously undefeated league leaders Bunbury and scored a comprehensive victory.
Will Ritchie savaged five maximums in an uncompromising 53 not out from Disley’s 172-5, before veteran leg-spinner Martin Blackbourn took 7-51 to leave Bunbury 34 runs short.
A young 2nd XI fell to a six-wicket defeat in the reverse fixture, despite fine showings from Madusha Wettasinghe (65) and Henry Clark (2-11).
The under-15s enjoyed their batting at Cheadle in the Cheshire County Junior Cricket League, rattling along to 183-7 from their 25-over allocation which was beyond their opposition.
Joe Chorlton led the way with 41 not out and there were good contributions from Alex Dyson (28), James Atkins (26) and George Noon (28). Meanwhile, the under-13s suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of neighbours Romiley.
