MARK Footitt has signed a new contract committing him to Derbyshire until the conclusion of the 2013 season.
The 26-year-old has taken 38 first-class wickets in 13 matches, at an average of 30.86, since signing from Nottinghamshire ahead of the 2010 campaign.
A left-arm fast bowler with the ability to bowl at 90-plus miles-per-hour, Footitt took 5-53 in the match against Northamptonshire at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, in 2011.
Footitt was also a star performer on the recent pre-season tour of Barbados - including a dramatic three-wicket final over in the Twenty20 victory over Hampshire – and he has since been selected for the opening two matches of the 2012 season, taking four wickets as Derbyshire won back-to-back matches versus Northamptonshire and Glamorgan.
Head Coach Karl Krikken said: “Strike bowlers are a precious commodity in all forms of cricket so I’m delighted to offer Mark a contract extension.
“Left-arm fast bowling at Mark’s pace will always create a handful for opposition batsman and he is capable of bowling devastating spells.”
