COUNTY cricket came to the High Peak last week as Glossop’s North Road ground hosted a Second XI Trophy (North Division) match between Derbyshire and Lancashire.

The match finished with a seven-wicket win for Lancashire, who lead the division with four wins from four, while Derbyshire currently sit bottom with just one point from their opening matches.

Derbyshire lost the toss and were put into bat, reaching 171-9 in their 40 overs thanks to an unbeaten 68 from Thomas Hamilton and 33 from wicketkeeper Tom Poynton.

Chapel-en-le-Frith’s Chris Durham batted at number six, but was out for a duck, caught lbw off the bowling of Steven Cheetham, who along with Oliver Newby took three wickets each.

In reply for Lancashire, Luke Perry finished on 75 not out, sharing a first-wicket stand of 56 with South African all-rounder Andrea Agathangelou (22) and then partnerships with Louis Bentley (23) and Danny Pawson (5) as Lancs finished on 175-3 with ten overs to spare.
