THE DRAW has been made for the quarter-finals of the Bissenden Cup and Hawke Trophy.
In the 1st XI Bissenden Cup, Whaley Bridge’s reward for knocking out Division One leaders Dinting is a home tie against cup holders Tintwistle, who defeated last season’s runners-up Hawk Green in the previous round. Division One newcomers Buxton travel to unbeaten Division Two leaders New Mills, while Newton entertain Woodley. The only all-Division One clash sees Old Glossop travel to Hayfield.
The big clash in the 2nd XI Hawke Trophy sees Division Three leaders Woodley host cup holders, and Division Four pacesetters, New Mills. Two all-Division Three ties see Buxton host Birch Vale, and Dinting face Tintwistle, while Division Four sides High Lane and Hadfield make up the draw.
However, the Buxton 2nd XI fixture depends on the outcome of a League Executive Meeting tonight (Thursday) which will discuss the eligibility of a player fielded by Buxton 2nd XI in the last round of the cup competition.
Daniel Moss allegedly appeared for Buxton in a Hawke Trophy match on June 5, having already allegedly appeared in a Bissenden Cup match for Dove Holes on May 8.
Tim Budd, Chairman of Buxton CC, said: “The club has complied fully with a request for information from the league.”
All the cup ties are scheduled to be played on Sunday July 3 (2pm start).
