Buxton Cricket Club’s first ever third team outing was last Saturday, with the team recording a three-wicket win.
The team has been entered into the sixth division of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire League this season.
The club’s intention is that the new outfit will see an increase in the numbers of adults playing for the club, whilst at the same time helping to introduce promising juniors to Saturday League cricket.
On Saturday the team beat Sheffield Transport seconds by three wickets.
The hosts were all out for 72, before Buxton secured the win during their innings eventually ending on 73-7.
Eight adults played for the club for the first time and it was particularly pleasing that the Man of the Match was junior player Dan Capell.
Capell impressed after taking four wickets for a loss of just 14 runs, off 10 overs with his slow left-arm spin.
Fellow junior Fred Smith only conceded eight runs off his opening five overs, taking a good catch and also impressing with bat in hand.
