FOR THE second successive week, all senior fixtures in the Peak Sports Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League have been called off due to the wet weather.

Games scheduled to be played this Saturday (April 28) have been abandoned, with each team in the league’s four divisions being awarded seven points.

The weather already caused the postponement of the opening round of league fixtures on Saturday April 21, which will now be played on Sunday September 9.

Mike Brown, Honorary Secretary of the Peak Sports Derbyshire & Cheshire League, said: “The season will commence without any further review of ground conditions on Saturday May 5.

“The League Management Committee are of the opinion that the season must commence at some point and that if any grounds are still unfit on that date, then that is just unfortunate.”
