EX-BUXTON cricketer Johny Marsden achieved career best bowling figures of 6-55 to Chesterfield Cricket Club to a Derbyshire Premier League victory over Ockbrook & Borrowash on Saturday.

Marsden’s victims included former Derbyshire players Trevor Smith and Jake Needham, as well as current opening batsman Matt Lineker, as the visitors to Queen’s Park were held to 234-7 in their 50 overs, before Chesterfield cruised to a six-wicket win.

Marsden, from Buxton, has blossomed since joining Chesterfield late last season.

In partnership with Matt Higginbottom, from Hayfield, he forms a formidable new ball attack in the Premier League.
