Buxton got back to winning ways last weekend with an 18-5 victory at home to title-chasers Prenton.
Coming off a string of bad results, Buxton put in the performance of the season with a valiant team effort.
Prenton kicked off and Buxton showed their intent from the start and took it straight to the away side, allowing them no room to move.
The hosts pinned the away side deep into their own half with some great kicking from the half-backs and back three.
Prenton were playing into the wind and were constantly met by Buxton’s defence that could only be described as running into a brick wall.
The first points of the game came from the boot of Summerfield, with Prenton being caught offside.
Soon after the restart Buxton’s Kiran Wain ran in the first try of the match.
The hosts’ pressure was now telling as Prenton gave away a penalty just inside their own half, allowing Summerfield to produce a monster kick from near the halfway line to make it 11-0.
A slight lapse in concentration then followed, allowing the visitors a try of their own.
However, heads didn’t drop and Buxton hit back in style with Ben Austin scoring a great solo try to round off the afternoon.
Buxton, who remain sixth in the table, travel to basement side Helsby on Saturday.
