Buxton and District Athletics Club members brought back a number of medals during the last in the series of Four Fell Races that make up the Accelerate Gritty Series.

Originally devised as a way of encouraging juniors into fell running, the Gritty Series was established in 2012.

Each race offers something different, with Wolfs Pit and Edale considered the toughest with Castleton and Great Hucklow also offering the aspiring fell runner a different challenge.

The seven strong team saw Lauren Wilshaw leading the pack taking the U10’s category by storm, scoring full points in every race beating not only the 10 girls but the boys as well.

Also in the U10 her teammate Clementine Newbould finished the series in fourth position with her sister Amelia coming third in the U14 girls.

In the U14 boys category Luke Mamczur put in an outstanding performance to come second - pipped to the post by his training partner Sam Soles running for Pennine.

Sam’s brother Dan, who also trains with Buxton with their Monday night progression group, stormed to victory in the U16’s category.

Buxton AC fell team train on Monday and Thursday 6pm-7pm. If you wish to take part go to Buxton Community School sports hall. The first session is free
