BUXTON 1st XI’s inconsistent season continued with a 97-run defeat away to Tintwistle on Saturday.
The Bucks collapsed from 40-0 to 88 all out, chasing 185, with only four batsmen reaching double figures.
Some late lusty hitting from Davies (41 not out) had flattered Tintwistle’s total as Buxton’s bowlers dominated for much of the afternoon. Mark Hill (1-14) and Matthew Poole (3-76) did the damage with the new ball, while Nick Smith (4-42) toiled away through the middle overs.
However Tintwistle’s total proved too great for Buxton’s weakened batting line-up, and they now have a job to do to avoid relegation from Division One. Next up is Compstall at The Park this Saturday.
