Awards for pool league winners

IT'S BEEN another entertaining season in the New Mills and District Pool League.

James Ruffell, of the Hare & Hounds team, was the individual knockout competition winner, while John Gordon and Steve Cooper, both representing the Cock Inn, Whaley Bridge, won the doubles knockout tournament.

Both matches went the full distance, with the victors winning 3-2.

Runner-up in the singles was Tim Fox (Fox Inn) and in the doubles Dan Thomas and Alan Peatfield (Kinder Lodge).

Danny Golpin (Whaley Club) won the most A Division wins playoff final.

The others in the playoff were Tim Fox (Fox Inn), James Ruffell (Hare & Hounds), Paul Edwards (Whaley Club) and Derek Pimlott (Swan).

The Division B most wins trophy went to Steve Bennett, of the Navigation Inn at Buxworth.

New Mills and District Pool League will be holding its Annual General Meeting and Presentation Night at the Hare & Hounds on Tuesday at 8pm.

Among the other prizes to be awarded are: Division A winners, Whaley Club A; runners-up, Kinder Lodge; Division B winners, NMFC; runners-up, Navigation Inn; Team Knockout winners, Swan; runners-up, Kinder Lodge.

All teams wishing to enter the 2009/10 season must attend. New teams are also invited to join the league.
