Sporting successes of Derbyshire’s school pupils will be celebrated at the 2014 Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association Sports Awards next month.
Organised by the Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association (DSSA), the event will recognise those who have excelled in school sport or sport outside of school, and pay tribute to some of those who have made a valuable voluntary contribution to school sport.
Among those nominated for an individual award is Abbie Wood of Buxton Community School and Jacob Roberts from Chapel-en-le-Frith High School.
Karen Shopland, Chair of the DSSA, said: “This has been another fantastic year for school sport in Derbyshire and I would like to congratulate all of the nominees.
“The talent and achievement demonstrated by the young people across the county is awe-inspiring.”
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Proact Stadium, Chesterfield Football Club, on Thursday September 18.
Around 200 guests are expected to attend the evening.
The event will also see awards presented to young leaders, adult volunteers and those who have made a contribution to school sport through media and arts.
