A comfortable win for Maddy at Chatsworth

PEAK DISTRICT rider Maddy Moffett has repeated her winning success of two years ago in a novice class at Chatsworth Horse Trials – this time competing on her own gelding 'Honour Promise'.

Maddy, 33, from Biggin, near Hartington, was joint leader after the dressage, produced a faultless clear round show jumping and added just 2.4 time penalties to give her a comfortable win.

She also took the Derbyshire Life trophy for best score over the novice sections for a Derbyshire rider, and the Brigadier Bill trophy for best cross country performance by a Derbyshire rider.

She said: "I was really, really chuffed with my performance; everything came together on the day.

"I had the luck of the draw as I was the first one out, especially as the ground wasn't great."

Maddy bought Honour Promise, also known as Frankie, as an unbroken two-year-old, and finished fourth with him last year.

This time the duo found an extra gear across country, taking the testing obstacles in their stride.

Maddy runs her livery and training yard from the Biggin Hall Hotel.
