AROUND £4,000 has so far been raised in aid of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) following a charity day at Buxton Raceway.
The event was the brainchild of Rebecca and Emma Corbett, who wanted to say a big thank-you to the Air Ambulance for the huge part it played in transporting their father Peter to hospital after an accident while racing his banger at the Raceway in May.

Despite the wet conditions, supporters turned out to take part in a sponsored fun run in fancy dress.

Car bonnets were signwritten by Phil Hutson, a supremo in signwriting.

A Mondeo, supplied by Peter's friends, was auctioned off, and another friend had his banger race car signwritten with advertising/sponsorship to raise funds for the worthy cause.

Drivers from Brampton Racetrack handed over a cheque for £500 after holding their own collection.

There were other numerous donations handed in, with the total to date being around £4,000.

Money is still being collected, and it is hoped that a final presentation will be made to the DLRAA at the race meeting at Buxton on Sunday July 12.
