Your correspondent of March 16 describes Nicola Sturgeon as first minister of “A Tin Pot Parliament”, but fails to mention that she is also the leader of the third largest political party in the House of Commons. The SNP won 56 of the 59 seats it contested at the 2015 election. One might wonder how many seats it might have won had it contested seats throughout the United Kingdom. As the strongest voice for the 48.1 per cent of the UK that voted to remain in the EU, the SNP would certainly get my vote if it were to contest the High Peak constituency. Come on, Nicola, let’s see a 21st-century equivalent of James VI of Scotland.
