Youngsters dance their way to success

A group of High Peak youngsters have been successful at the recent Stockport Stage Dance Festival.

The youngsters are pupils from the Phoenix Stage School, which has classes in Buxton and Chinley.

Ten-year-old Charlie Hodgkinson was placed first with a distinction for his song and dance - Consider Yourself - and was awarded a gold medal and a trophy. His five-year-old brother, Henry, won a third place medal for his tap solo and also gained two honours for tap and song and dance.

Eight-year-old Honey Bettney won a second place medal for her tap solo with distinction and gained an honours and two Merits for ballet, modern jazz and Czech national solos. Her three-year-old sister Brooke gained a merit for her Snowdrop Fairy.

Eight-year-old Elena Law gained an honours for her song and dance - Wouldn’t it be Luverly - while her five-year-old sister, Erin, gained a merit for her song and dance solo. Abigail O’Wellen, eight, and her four-year-old sister Bronya, gained merits for their song and dance and clown character solos, and ten-year-old Molly Soden gained a merit for her modern jazz solo.
