Buxton X Factor star Lucy Spraggan is going to infinity and beyond for a good cause.

Lucy, who rose to fame on the TV talent show in 2012, will dress as Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear as she jumps out of a plane this weekend to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity, which supports The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.

She will be joined by friends Lloyd Wilkinson and Jordan Stringfellow for Sunday’s superhero-themed jump at Brigg Airfield.

She said: “I chose Buzz as he’s my favourite character from Toy Story and he can kind of fly.

“Even though I’m pretty horrified by heights I thought I might be able to help raise funds for the charity. The work they do is incredible and I’d love to help support them.”

Almost £2,500 has already been raised for the charity but Lucy is hoping to raise more on the day, adding: “We’re going to turn up early and try to raise some money in the morning before we jump too, then add that to all of the money raised online. The public are welcome to come and support on the day.”
