Buxton’s Lucy Spraggan is busy rehearsing for the Live Finals of the X Factor competition.
An amazing 9.8 million viewers of the hit ITV show saw Lucy picked by the mentor for the girls Tulisa, on Sunday’s show.
Just three girls were selected from the six that flew out to the Caribbean paradise island St Lucia, with Lucy joining Ella Henderson and Jade Ellis in the final 12.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Lucy said the hardest part has been keeping her success a secret as the auditions and clips from the boot camp and judges’ houses were all filmed well in advance of being screened
“I really wanted to tell people,” said Lucy, “People asked me all the time if I had got through.
“I ended up just saying no at the end of the day, and people said it was terrible. It was hard to keep my mouth shut.
“When my friends found out they all texted saying ‘I can’t believe you kept that a secret’.”
Lucy is now busy preparing for Saturday’s live show. “I have rehearsals and have got a lot of press to do. And obviously the famous makeover.”
However, Lucy does not intend to make too many changes: “I said from the very beginning that there wasn’t going to be a lot of difference. My music is not going to change, or my image. I am just a regular person like everyone else so I want to stay like that.”
Lucy said of the Live Shows: “It will be a bit different this year to what people probably expect.”
She said as the competition had been opened up to singer/songwriters changes, had been made to ensure all acts had the same chance to excel.
A final wildcard act will make it through to the live final, selected through a public vote.
