Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman’s bank card was stolen at a cash machine in New Mills.

On Wednesday, August 10, a woman was at the ATM machine at Lloyds TSB on Union Road when she was distracted by a man who asked her if a £10 note on the floor was hers.

While this was happening another man allegedly swapped her card in the machine for another.

The men then walked off and money was spent using her bank card that afternoon.

One of the men was described as 40-years-old and wearing a suit. He had black, receding hair, facial stubble, brown eyes and an English accent.

The offenders are thought to have gotten into a burgundy Volkswagen Passat car which was seen on Union Road between 1.20pm and 1.40pm. It left via Hague Bar Road.
