A Whaley Bridge artist was commissioned by Lancashire County Cricket Club to capture this year’s Investec Ashes Series last weekend.
Rob Wilson, who is also a member of the Peak District Artisans, was invited to produce a range of commemorative paintings to celebrate the sporting event.
Capturing the series, Rob was overlooking the ground from the players and media centre at the heart of the world’s press. Here, he captured the feverish atmosphere in his paintings as the test unfolded.
His series, which will be signed by the players will be exhibited and available to purchase at Manchester gallery Contemporary Six from tomorrow (Friday) until August 30.
The collection combines his love of old and new architecture and shows the redeveloped pavilion adjacent to The Point, which was built in 2010.
Rob said: “I was delighted to be invited to capture this momentous event. Working with the team at LCCC combined with the experience of being located in the heart of the media centre has made this project immensely exciting.”
The former graphic design student at Bradford University, received a commendation at the Derbyshire Open and won best artist at the Buxton Festival Fringe in 2007.
His mixed media paintings offer atmospheric interpretations of Peak District landscapes.
