Just when Buxton needed it most ... its famous St Ann’s Well dried up.
One resident who contacted the Advertiser said: “There were tourists pressing round the Lion’s Head to see if they could get the water out.”
Visitors who travel from afar to fill their bottles with water from the well were left disappointed.
But we can’t blame the heat for the interruption of the supply twice in a few days.
A council spokesperson said the water went off last Thursday due to a fault caused by an interruption to the electrical supply but was restored later the same day.
“The supply had gone off again today (Tuesday) and this does not appear to be connected to the incident last week, or to the new bottling plant. This fault has been responded to immediately and the supply again reinstated the same afternoon.
“Essential planned maintenance will now be brought forward in order to try to prevent further unplanned disruptions. When this happens, a notice will be provided on site to advise people the supply is out of action for maintenance.”
